Solar Powered, Attic Fan

Solar Powered, Attic Fan, Natural Light Brand

If your attic heats up like a sauna in the summer, it could warm up the rest of your house, too, causing your air conditioner to work harder (which in turn costs you more money in increased energy bills). The idea behind a solar-powered attic fan is to vent that hot air out of your attic, using the sun's energy for power. This should save you energy and add to the lifetime of your air conditioning system. The solar fans are also supposed to lengthen the life of your roof, since the shingles aren't subjected to such great heat in the summer. In the cooler months, the fan works to keep moisture from accumulating in the attic, which could lead to the growth of mold, mildew, and rot in the roof deck and framing. The price for a solar attic fan is about $300, but the nice thing about solar power is of course that it'll cost you nothing to keep it running year after year
