GlassWalk

Structural Glass Floor System

Now, why would you want glass flooring in your home? Well, for one, it looks kind of cool. But it can also be helpful in allowing light to flow between floors (for example, a skylight on the top floor can filter light through a glass walkway to the rooms below). GlassWalk offers a structural flooring system, which uses two-ply laminated glass modules that range in size from 12" x 12" to 40" x 45". Worried about fragility? The company promises their glass flooring is sturdy. They temper the top layer for impact resistance and then bond it to the heat-strengthened bottom layer with a clear resin interlayer. The flooring is slip resistant, and you can order it with custom patterns screened into the interior surface of the glass (so it's still smooth to the touch, but you can see the patterns swirling beneath the surface). GlassWalk says their glass is suitable for landings, stairs, and walkways, as well as floors
